Tree-Gone-o-Metry
A simulation of growth, scale and decay. As the forest grows, it attracts human settlements. Settlements grow according to their proximity to trees and lakes, and shrinks back when all that can be consumed is spent.
Place trees with left click, scroll the map with arrow keys/WASD.

Made for the GMTK Game Jam 2024, a 4 day game jam. Theme was "Built to scale".
Programming by Nuxifer, assets and music by Sezuki.
Known issues: Significant slowdown once growth begins to happen at scale.
Estimated hours spent: 18-20 (programming and assets).
Disclosure regarding AI tools: Background music was generated with Suno. ChatGPT was used to refactor, troubleshoot and prototype substantial amounts of code.
